The tchanquées cabins in the birds island, Arcachon Bay
Learn more about photography
In Gascon language (south west of France), the tchanquées are the shepherds' stilts. These wooden huts, originally built to watch over the oyster farms, are the true symbols of the Arcachon Bay. In front of the bird island, they are facing Arcachon, standing on their stilts.
