Learn more about photography
The Patiras lighthouse was built under Napoleon III on the island of Patiras, in the Gironde estuary, and was lighted on 20 July 1879. It culminates at 46 meters above sea level, and to reach its lens you must climb 133 steps. It was switched off in 1992, and after being restored it can now accommodate day visitors for iodine seminars.
