Finistère photos

The department of Finistère is often directly hit by storms coming from the Atlantic. They are crashing on the rugged coastline, marked by the Jument lighthouse, Vieille Lighthouse,  Ar Men Lighthouse, as well Créac'h lighthouse on Ouessant. This is the most exposed point to storms and gales of Brittany. The photos taken during these natural phenomena are just stronger! The Bigoudens and their caps to the wind won't say the contrary.

Finistère

Port-Rhu a Douarnenez dans le Finistère

The ubiquitous ocean
The sea is indomitable in Finistère, as demonstrated by the Petra storm in February 2014. Waves attacking the lighthouses at sea, as if they had decided to destroy everything on their way. The two Breton departments that were North Finistère and South Finistère become a single one. This is the first coastal department of France with 118 coastal towns and more than 1250 km of coastline, almost a quarter of the French coastline.

Photo Walk in Finistère
Walk on the Finistère coasts with our photo posters of Port-Rhu in Douarnenez, from the Louët island in Morlaix bay, from the small port of Camaret with his Notre Dame de Rocamadour chapel, caravels anchored off Carantec or even the Glénans archipelago and its seabed turquoise waters.

A heritage of lighthouses
The most photogenic lighthouses at sea  sea are found along the Finistère coasts. Around Ouessant you can find the Jument and Nividic lighthouses and Kéréon in the Fromveur. In Iroise sea, The Pierres Noires lighthouse, Tévennec lighthouse, La Vieille lighthouse and Ar-Men lighthouse in the Chaussee de Sein.

When the swell attacks them, lighthouses look like indomitable fortress.
